Inauguración del Centro de Exhibición de Arqueología Arutam Wakam, un logro para la preservación cultural
En un emocionante acontecimiento que celebra la rica historia y cultura ancestral zamorana, Lundin Gold Ecuador, en colaboración con la Universidad Nacional de Loja (UNL), ha inaugurado el Centro de Exhibición Arqueológica Arutam Wakam – Espíritu de Nuestros Antepasados, en la ciudad de Yantzaza.
Este centro representa un viaje de 7 mil años respaldado por más de una década de investigación arqueológica, con el apoyo fundamental del Instituto Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural (INPC) de Ecuador, Zona 7. La iniciativa ha sido posible gracias a la colaboración entre la industria minera y la academia, destacando el compromiso de la Minería Responsable en la preservación cultural y la promoción del patrimonio histórico de la región.
El Centro de Exhibición Arutam Wakam cuenta con salas dedicadas a la operación minera y a la cultura Machinaza, ofreciendo a los visitantes una ventana única al pasado que enriquece el presente. La colaboración interinstitucional entre Lundin Gold, la UNL y el INPC ha permitido exhibir 74 piezas arqueológicas únicas que revelan la rica historia de Zamora Chinchipe.
Uno de los logros destacados de esta colaboración es el Programa de Investigación Arqueológica en torno a Fruta del Norte, ejecutado por el Instituto Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural Zona 7 y la empresa INVACMA Cía. Ltda. Este programa ha permitido recuperar y preservar el valioso patrimonio arqueológico de la zona de influencia de la mina, revelando hallazgos impresionantes que datan de hace más de 7.000 años.
Entre los descubrimientos notables se encuentran vasijas, restos de plantas y alimentos, monolitos, piezas metálicas, instrumentos para triturar roca y restos de metales que testimonian la antigua actividad humana en la región. Estos hallazgos constituyen una evidencia tangible de la historia de la zona y refuerzan el compromiso de Lundin Gold con la preservación del patrimonio cultural.
La inauguración del Centro de Exhibición Arutam Wakam destaca el compromiso trascendental de la Minería Responsable con la preservación cultural y representa un ejemplo exitoso de colaboración entre la industria, la academia y el sector público. Arutam Wakam Archaeology Exhibition Center’s Opening: A milestone in the preservation of cultural heritage
In an exciting event that celebrates Zamora’s rich history and ancestral culture , Lundin Gold Ecuador, in collaboration with the National University of Loja (UNL), has inaugurated the Arutam Wakam Archeology Exhibition Center – Spirit of Our Ancestors, in the city of Yantzaza.
This center presents a 7,000-year journey supported by over a decade of archaeological research, with the fundamental support of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage (INPC) of Ecuador, Zone 7. The initiative has been made possible thanks to the collaboration between the mining industry and academia, highlighting the commitment of Responsible Mining to the preservation of culture and the promotion of the region’s historical heritage.
The Arutam Wakam Exhibition Center has rooms dedicated to mining operations and Machinaza culture, offering visitors a unique window into the past that enriches the present. The interinstitutional collaboration between Lundin Gold, UNL, and INPC has made an exhibition possible of 74 unique archaeological pieces, unveiling Zamora Chinchipe’s rich history.
One of the notable achievements of this collaboration is the Archaeological Research Program relating to Fruta del Norte, executed by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage Zone 7 and the company INVACMA Cía. Ltda. This program has made it possible to recover and preserve the valuable archaeological heritage in the mining area, unveiling impressive discoveries with origins extending back 7,000 years.
Notable discoveries include pottery, plant and food remains, monoliths, metal pieces, rock-crushing tools, and metal remnants that testify to ancient human activities in the region. These findings constitute tangible evidence of the area’s history and reinforce Lundin Gold’s commitment to the preservation of cultural heritage.
